Hide and seek with Basje

July 27, 2009

Basje, a.k.a. the fastest cat in the world, loves to cuddle with me when I park my bike in the backyard of the flat I live in. When I came in last week, I heard the miauow, but did not see Basje. Then I noticed her on the roof of our bike storage:

And I must say, she does a great job interacting with me, yet ignorning me at the same time. I bow to you Basje, I bow to you…

The Oscar for best ignoring performance goes to…

June 28, 2009

Here in this little corner of the interwebs, we love cats that ignore people. Why, we even created a special tag for it. And creating a tag totally means it’s law!

One of my most beloved neighbourhood cats is the true king of ignoring. Mad props to him.

Great posture, passive-aggressive while still remaining the relaxed ‘paw-tuck’ move. Very impressive! Also, notice the ears, they are pointed backward, which always gains one double points.

Excellent! Paws still firmly tucked, but the eyes have changed into the more direct closing mode, really bringing the ignoring to a new height. Also notice the ‘bish plz’ attitude of the mouth.

And now…the move that won him the Oscar:

The scary cat

June 27, 2009

Most cats are awesome, even if they are mean and grumpy. That’s just business as usual, and that’s fine. But some, just some cats, are not nice and even downright scary. No, not scaredy cats, plain scary creepy, gnarly bastards. To wit:

Ok, this is not very bad yet, but don’t overlook that evil grin.

Yes, the true colours are beginning to show. The cocked ear, an evil glint in the eyes and last but certainly not least, the mouth. This really gives away his inner feelings: humans must suffer.

The next picture is not for the faint of heart:

Emi does not approve

March 7, 2009

I had the good fortune to have an audience with Emi recently. But it seemed she did not wholly approve of my humble adoration.

To wit, her emotions:

Fear

Apprehension

Ignoring (yay!)

And finally, the ‘BISH PLZ‘ look:

Blast from the past

December 1, 2008

I am getting sent more and more cat pictures, which is great. This means I don’t have to get off my bike in the freezing cold in the winter to snap some kitty pics. Instead, I can lazily drink Chai tea with goats milk whilst listening to Cliff Richard singing Summer Holiday. True story!

Anyway, if you feel inclined to do so, send me cat pictures, even if they have already kicked the bucket (just say fucket!). Sorry if that seems a little like a harsh way to talk about dead felines, but that was really the only way I could really sneak that video in again.

Anyway, this is a picture of Bunny, and by the looks of it, one of the awesomest cats to have graced us with his presence.

Thomas, any link I can provide here, so you get credit for one most smug cat pictures out there?

I love you Bunny, even though I never met you. You would have ignored me so beautifully…

A star is born

November 23, 2008

Yes, my trusted readers, all three of you, there is a new Cats ‘n Stuff star. After Nippon, Roefes, Mimi and Arie & Bernard, I can now proudly present a soon-to-be recurring guest: Emi. She is the cat of my friend over at De Splinter (Dutch only unfortunately) and the is a-doooo-rable! A sort of tortoiseshell / calico / caliby kitty with the best temper ever. She was sleeping and purring on my lap in no time.

Don’t let the laser eyes fool you!

Restaurant kitteh

November 15, 2008

A little while ago, I went to a great vegetarian restaurant in my neighbourhood. They have a cat there that basically does nothing except chilling out on a couch next to my favourite table. Is it a coincidence that my favourite table is close to a cat? You decide! Anyway, this cat is the least responsive most ignoring-est cat I’ve ever seen, and you know by now I’ve seen my fair share. The evidence can be found below…

He kitty, what’s up!

Let me pet you, that’ll make you connect with me.

Ok, washing my smell out, sheesh, you don’t have to be so obvious about it…

Spying on cats is fun!

October 19, 2008

I’ve had these pictures for over half a year and totally forgot about them. Which is really silly, because it involves me spying on a cat, being a catarazzi if you will. Actually, you probably won’t, because it is one of the worst semi-puns I ever made. Mea culpa!

So let’s leave that behind us and focus on the real fun: creeping cats out because you are spying on them:

“Ok, this is freaking me out! What does the crazy lady want from me?”

In some cases, ignoring won’t help kittehs:

After the jump, stare in the face of a very disquited cat…

Nippon has a drinking problem

October 4, 2008

As I told you months ago, Nippon has a nasty little habit. She drinks from my water, and since I’m not always around when she does, more than once I have been unpleasantly surprised with a mouthful of cat hair. Don’t believe me? Check this out!

New cat-egory: Cats on balconies

August 1, 2008

The motto here at Cats ‘n stuff is: three times a charm. Well, when it comes to categories it is. I posted two entries before featuring cats sitting on balconies, and when me and my boyfriend caught another one in the act, I thought it was time for more tagging fun. Because I’m a huge nerd. And even better, the cat was ignoring me like there was no tomorrow!

“Eyes wide open, almost bulging, but so not seeing you.”

“Still not interested.”

I love the last semi-ignoring look. The well known ’semlling-an-object-but-staring-at-you-anyway’ look to be specific. Well played kitteh!
