You are about to get sassed

July 28, 2009

Our roving reporter, who now has her own category, has recently been sassed in the most intense and birdlike manner. She had to share it of course, to pass on this birditude. If you ever get crap from someone, either visualise the picture you are about to see, or just e-mail it to them.  It just screams: “What you talkin’ ’bout fool?” and “I don’t take crap from anyone, especially you!”, but then in a lovely, bird-sassy manner. It’s almost impossible to be insulted by this adorable ball of fluff, feathers and feistyness.

Totally random

June 25, 2009

I have left you in the dark for so long, and what do you get? Random pictures. Hey, life is not fair, and sometimes I feel more like posting stuff than cats. The good news is I finally got out of my house after a month of thesis writing and a hermit-like lifestyle and got to take some nice kitty pictures. They will follow later.

Summer has arrived in The Netherlands, and with it came an impressive thunderstorm that kept me up all night a few weeks ago. It was as if a civil war had broken out and actual cannons were fired next to my window. In the dead of night, Amsterdam was lit.

Also, as I was trying to take a picture of an actual lighting bolt I gained a new-found respect for photographers. I must have snapped at least 50+ pictures, and all I got was this:

Petting zoo kitteh

April 25, 2009

I went to a petting zoo in Amsterdam recently with one of my friends. Now, for those of you who don’t speak Dutch, we call a petting zoo a ‘kinderboerderij’ or children’s farm. Soylent green anyone? Just so you know, I will not be deterred by the implication that petting zoos should only be visited by children or children and their parents / caretakers. So there we were, in all our finery, prancing around the petting zoo. Side note: do not wear semi-high heels to petting zoos. What was I thinking?

Anyzoo, to my surprise there was also a live-in cat at the petting zoo. And it was a splendid specimen indeed, with just the right mix of adorableness and aloofness.

Well played kitteh. The pensive side-glance that indicates you’re not aware of the hooman trying to attract your attention.

Again, nice job! I am also digging the socks you’ve got there.

Resistance is futile. You must be petted!

The definition of Spring

April 17, 2009

Spring has arrived in The Netherlands! The sun has been shining for over a week, and when the first ray hit the city, the whole of Amsterdam poored out, got into their boats, sat on benches and picknicked and generally got around 165 % friendlier. Sure, today will probably one of those rainy days, but the last week was fabulous.

On all my biking trips I did with this glorious weather, I saw lambs. Now, nothing means Spring to me if not a whole flock of lambs being totally adorable and running around. Another Sping must is people playing football in the streets and in the parks here. Well, what happens if you give lambs a football? This!

Disclaimer: cuteness may cause severe redardation in speech, such as ZOMG!1!!!1 *squeeeeeel* THAT’S ADORABLE, AWWWW *head explosion*

Thanks Tom!

Owly scowls or: scowly owls

March 10, 2009

The reason I love owls almost as much as cats is because they do not approve of humans either. A lovely person who is also a great photographer has captured this attitude very well. Are you prepared to be scowled at by owls? I know I am!

“You’re learning to dissaprove already my son. Keep it up.”

“Get off my lawn!”

I suspect owls of preferring to sit up high just so they can look down on us. For your enjoyment, I have made some close-ups of these disapproving birdies:

Happy anniversary to meeeeeeee…

January 29, 2009

There we go! Two years of Cats ‘n Stuff. And they said we would never make it… At least, that’s what I said in the very first post. Shows you how much I know. The most traffic I get on this site it because of all the posts I did on Invisible Stuff  ‘n Cats. Because I thought it was too easy to keep doing that, and because the lovely peeps over at Cheezburger deal with this much better than me, I will never make a post like that again.

However, it is certainly now below me to follow up my second most-visited post: Life-like stuffed Maine Coon cats. I made that one because the website Stuffed Ark sold some real stinkers, and they continue to do so. Also, until this last sentence, I always thought that the website was called Stuffe Dark. Again, shows you how much I know and how my malfunctioning brain works. I mean, Stuffe Dark, really? I guess it’s an honest mistake, because these ugly stuffed cats really haunt the dark depths of my subconscience. Ok, ready for some ‘Stuffe Dark’ cats?

Danish kittehs

August 27, 2008

I went to Denmark with my dad recently, and the people we visited had a couple of really cute cats. They live in the country, so the cats have a huge terrain they can have fun and hunt mice. Still, they were around the house quite a bit, as I will demonstrate right now:

Annoyed much?

When this cat left the window, another one immediately jumped in the opening:

This next picture is not that great, but I realised much later that the red kitteh is chilling in the background:

So I was having a great time petting these two, until I realised that my dad’s dog Tommie watching us from the car with envy!

And the pièce de résistance:

When you don’t agree with someone, just send them this picture. They’ll know what you mean…

Cool animals – Amazon horned frog

August 19, 2008

Every once in a while, I will post a quite random picture of an animal that is not a cat (I know, the shock!), just because they are cool. Sometimes, I will write something about it, explain why it’s cool in my humble opinion. I will not do that today however, this picture speaks for itself.

Original picture and National Geographic entry here.

He’s like the original Hypnotoad:

All hail to the Hypnotoad

Catsnstuff Down Under – 1: Sydney

May 31, 2008

As you may or may not know, I’m in Australia right now, and I will be using my usually cat-filled blog with travel stories. To all my Dutch friends: I’m doing it in English because my blog has always been in English. Hope it’s ok! Get a cup of tea or coffee, because this is not what I would call a short post.

Kittehs on treadmills…and something else

May 13, 2008

Hi there! It is so hot in Amsterdam right now that I just don’t have the energy to write a lot. Too bad, because this is my 100th post! I promise I’ll make the 123rd real special. Anyway, I’ve let myself be inspired by Cuteoverload to post some videos about cats on treadmills. It’s all the rage people!

A very lazy treadmill cat:

Active kittehs on treadmills, twice:

After the jump: an animal you really would not expect on a treadmill, and the last video again, but with music!
